The Sower, the official student publication of Quirino State University-Diffun Campus, harvested various awards from individual and group categories during the 20th Regional Higher Education Press Conference held at NGN Gran Hotel, Tuguegarao City, Jan. 22-24.
In Individual Categories, the six staffers of the publication made it to the Top 10 where two of them qualifies for the Luzon-Wide Higher Education Press Conference, namely:
– Reymart Mauricio, LHEPC qualifier, 2nd place in Poetry Writing (English)
– Rochelle Divina, LHEPC qualifier, 3rd place in Feature Writing (English) and 8th place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (English)
– Regina Asuncion, 7th place in Editorial Writing (Filipino)
– Julie Anne Pascua, 7th place in Poetry Writing (Filipino)
– Jasser Ramirez, 7th place in Column Writing (English)
– Mark John Dee Escobar, 10th place in Layouting
Meanwhile in Group Category, the publication placed 8th in the Overall Highest Pointer in Paper Competition with several awards in Tabloid and Literary Folio entries;

-3rd place in Opinion Page, Literary Page, Devcom Page
-4th place in Best Page Layout and Design, Feature Page, Sports Page, and News page
-4th place in Overall Tabloid competition
For Literary Folio
– 8th place in Best in Cover Design, and Page Layout and Design

– 10 place in Best Graphic Illustration

In an interview, Matt Mauricio, Senior Graphic Artist, expressed his overwhelming feeling on his new achievement despite being neophyte on the field in a regional press conference.
“As a first timer na maka pasok sa LHEPC, sobrang saya and also overwhelmed kase I’ve never imagine that I would be part of top 5 and a second placer pa. I’m very thankful to God and to my Sower family, thank you for the opportunity and good luck sa atin”, he said.
Meanwhile, Mary Joy Alunday, adviser of The Sower Publication, said that she did her best to bring most of the staff and she was beyond proud of her team.
