Maddela, Quirino – December 20, 2023 – In a significant event uniting year-end festivities with a social cause, faculty and staff from the three campuses of Quirino State University (QSU) today gathered together for the conduct of the 2023 Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and University Year-end Thanksgiving Program.
The program, held at the QSU Maddela Campus Multi-purpose Gymnasium , is hosted by the QSU Gender and Development Office as culminating activity for the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC that the university implemented from November 25 to December 12, 2023.
President Hermenegildo F. Samoy Jr. shared in his opening address the story of three inspiring women in the Bible, including Mary, the Mother of Jesus. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the critical role of women in the university and the society saying, “Honor and respect them.”
The program featured the lecture of Mr. Froilan B. Herrera, Population Program Officer IV, who delivered powerful insights on “Men Opposed to Violence against Women Everywhere (MOVE).”
Interwoven with the VAWC advocacy, the event offered an enjoyable celebration of the year’s accomplishments. Faculty and staff from the three campuses were given an opportunity to bond and be merry, all united in the spirit of gratitude and advocacy.
