After providing skills and entrepreneurship training, the University facilitated the awarding of starter tool kits to its 25 scholars of Bread and Pastry Production (NC II) under the Special Training Program of the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on March 19, 2024 at the CHTM Kitchenette, Diffun, Quirino.

With the aim of providing livelihood opportunities, TESDA Quirino Provincial Office representative Ms. Venie A. Danil, encouraged the scholars to use the starter kits to make a living and improve their lives. She was accompanied by University President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., with the trainers- Prof. Jonathan N. Tariga and Mr. Bernard Milla, in distributing an electric oven and hand mixer to each scholar who was trained on July 8 to 29, 2023.

As the recipients were formerly unemployed or are out-of-school youth, they expressed their gratitude and happiness over the received kits. In an interview, Ms. Thelma P. Lopez who now sells baked bread online shared,”masaya po ang training noon at mababait ang trainers, ngayun may dagdag kita na po ako.” Another scholar, Ms. Cielo T. Rosete who is a mother of two, divulged that her quality of cakes improved after the training and her sales tripled. She further said, “masaya po ako sa kit, I’m sure lalaki po ang production ko at hindi narin ako magpupuyat.”

Before the program ended, President Samoy, Jr. , thanked TESDA and advised the scholars to learn tirelessly. He said, “Life is like a marathon, we have to keep running for our goals. Have a thirst for learning and learn continuously.”
