In its third week of international lecture series facilitated by the University, lecturers uncovered the strategies in teaching language, literature, and language in the Indian context on April 5, 2024. The topics were discussed by Dr. Ma. Theresa B. Valerio, Dr. Divina Gracia S. Sabio, both from QSU, and Dr. Madharima Chakraborty of AU-India respectively.

The discussions focused on the direct and indirect approaches in teaching tailored to the diversity of learners, teaching goals, and teaching English as a second language.

Dr. Valerio emphasized the strategies in teaching language requires students to have practical experiences. Dr. Sabio shared techniques that encourage engagement and sharing while giving consideration to the increasingly digital and visual nature of communication crucial for today’s learners. Relevantly, Dr. Chakraborty described the challenges of the Indian context, where multilingualism and multiculturalism necessitate creativity from teachers when instructing English as a foreign language.
