The University celebrated the National Womenโ€™s Month across its three campuses, yesterday, March 23. With the theme “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society,” the two-part event was held virtually in the morning and onsite in the afternoon session. It featured the valuable contributions of women and reinforced the institutionโ€™s dedication to fostering a culture of respect, inclusitivity, and empowerment.

Dr. Alfonso R. Simon, OIC- President, led the recognition of women from various sectors, emphasizing that their contributions are fundamental to the nationโ€™s progress. In his address, Dr. Simon emphasized the importance of upholding womenโ€™s rights as a means to protect and nurture their full potential as individuals. He also shared the vital role of feminism in raising awareness and advancing gender and social equity not merely as a movement, but as a collective responsibility.

Further, Dr. Rocela Angelica B. Gorospe, Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), explained the growing presence of women in various fields, showcasing how women continue to excel in careers, academics, leadership, technology, and science embodying versatility and excellence. She also highlighted DOST led initiatives, including research training, innovation programs, leadership enhancement, and global engagement activities, all designed to equip women with opportunities to thrive and contribute meaningfully to building progressive communities.

True to the spirit of inclusivity, the three campuses hosted a series of meaningful activities that honored diverse members of the academic community. Special recognition was given to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant employees which acknowledged their unique strengths and experiences. Interactive games and engagement activities followed, fostering camaraderie and ensuring that the celebration was not only reflective but also joyful and participatory.

Beyond the celebration, the event served as a vital educational endeavor that deepened participantsโ€™ understanding of the importance of women in society. It became a powerful reminder that embracing one another beyond gender differences is essential in building a united, non-discriminatory, and genuinely inclusive school community.

Through these collective efforts, the University reaffirmed its dedication to womenโ€™s empowerment not just as a monthly celebration, but as a continuous journey toward equality, dignity, and respect for all.
