The 2026 PAEPI International Extension Conference served as a global platform for Quirino State University (QSU) to showcase its impactful extension initiatives from its three campuses, presenting seven meaningful outputs designed for direct community application. Held from April 14 to 17, 2026, at Tag Resort in Coron, Palawan, seven faculty extensionists highlighted practical interventions that go beyond the classroom to address real-world challenges.

These outputs ranging from digital toolkits for farmers to journalism training, smart education management systems, and communication-based governance initiatives demonstrate the University’s efforts to delivering transformative services that enhance livelihoods, strengthen literacy, improve institutional efficiency, and promote responsive and empowered local governance.

At the forefront of innovation, Project CANAL D.I.G.I.T.A.L., presented by Dr. Benjielyn B. Bautista (BSCS Department Representative), introduced a technology-driven framework aimed at empowering irrigators through improved leadership, transparency, and digital accountability. Meanwhile, Dr. Emma D. Aspiras (BSEntrep Department, AEDS & GAD Representative) showcased Project BANANA, an agro-entrepreneurial initiative that transforms banana-based resources into sustainable livelihood opportunities while addressing malnutrition in local communities.

Further strengthening technical capacity, Ms. Novelyn L. Mitra (BS Math Department Representative) introduced MATHIC, a community-centered framework designed to enhance mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling communities to innovate and make data-driven decisions in everyday life.

Complementing these technical innovations were programs centered on communication and social development. Dr. Roselle M. Soriano (BAELS Department Representative) presented “The Unbreakable Pen,” a journalism mastery program under the Venturing of Information Project, equipping participants with essential storytelling, media literacy, and advocacy skills. Additionally, Ms. Marilou O. Cuyos (BSMath Department Representative) presented a Baseline Study for Proposed Extension Programs, a diagnostic foundation ensuring that future BSMath initiatives are responsive and aligned with community needs.

Expanding the institution’s presence at the international conference, additional extension initiatives from other campuses further strengthened its impact. From Diffun Campus, Ms. Divine Grace Draman Olaño presented Project CLICK 4Cs: Collaborate, Capacitate, Create, and Consolidate for Smarter Education Management under the Engineering, Smart Analytics, and ICT category. Her study highlights the integration of collaborative digital systems and data-driven strategies to improve educational management, enabling institutions to make informed decisions and deliver more efficient services.

Meanwhile, from Maddela Campus, Dr. Liriolyn Bitamog Pacursa presented their study titled “Fostering Empowered Local Governance with Communication Arts: The Impact of the E-SURO Extension Program” through both oral and poster presentations under the Education category. Their research emphasizes the role of communication arts in strengthening local governance by enhancing transparency, improving public engagement, and equipping local officials with effective communication strategies.

Through these diverse and impactful presentations, the University reaffirmed its commitment to extension excellence, empowering communities with knowledge, innovation, and practical skills that drive sustainable and inclusive development.
