The University’s Health Services Unit (HSU) partnered with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the Quirino Provincial Medical Center (QPMC) to deliver accessible and comprehensive medical services directly to campus through the two-day conduct of the YAKAP Caravan 2025.

Held on November 26 and 27 at the University Gymnasium of Diffun Campus, the caravan offered various essential services. These included free health screening and vital signs assessment; medical consultations and laboratory procedures provided by QPMC; pregnancy testing; the issuance of medical certificates; and the dispensing of essential medicines for identified conditions. Additionally, the caravan provided crucial on-site assistance for PhilHealth registration and membership updates.

An estimated 600 on-the-job -training (OJT) students participated in the two-day event, along with 50 faculty and staff who availed the services offered.

The caravan was spearheaded by the QSU Health Services, led by Ms. Remylien C. Songco, who collaborated closely with a dedicated team of 52 individuals from implementing partner agencies. These partners included the QPMC, headed by Dr. Margaret Jean C. De Guzman, with support of the YAKAP Doctors led by Dr. Bernard Baui, the OPD/FPE Team, Laboratory Team, Pharmacy, Malasakit, and the QPMC YAKAP Verification Team. The PhilHealth Santiago Team, led by Dr. Samuel Morillo, also provided essential support.

This activity reflects shared efforts to promoting wellness, strengthening partnerships, and supporting preventive healthcare within the institution. Beyond providing immediate services, the YAKAP Caravan empowers our students and personnel to prioritize their health and better understand their benefits and available healthcare options.

The University community and Dr. Hermegildo F. Samoy, Jr., President, extend their sincerest gratitude to QPMC led by Dr. Margaret Jean C. De Guzman and PhilHealth LHIO headed by Dr. Samuel Morillo, for their services in the conduct of the activity.

Special acknowledgment is also given to Hon. Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua, Provincial Governor, and Hon. Midy N. Cua, Congresswoman, whose continued advocacy for health and well-being significantly strengthens initiatives that uplift the QSU community.

Finally, heartfelt thanks are extended to the Health Services Unit, the coordinators, facilitators, support staff, and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Their dedication ensured the meaningful and successful execution of this vital activity.
