Faculty and staff of the University have successfully launched a new manual titled “Saging sa Botelya: A Guide to Tissue Cultured Banana Production and Management.” The publication is a significant output of the project “Technology Commercialization and Utilization of Tissue Cultured Banana,” funded through the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF) of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Science and Technology – Regional Office II.
This comprehensive guide serves as a practical reference for farmers, agriculture professionals, and banana growers, focusing on the propagation, management, and commercialization of tissue-cultured banana varieties. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of experts from the University, the manual consolidates years of research, field experience, and local best practices into an accessible resource aimed at enhancing productivity and sustainability in the banana industry.
The authors emphasized that the manual is a proof to the university’s commitment to advancing agricultural innovation and knowledge dissemination. It also underscores the importance of public investment in research that directly benefits farming communities.
With the release of Saging sa Botelya, the University hopes to empower more stakeholders to adopt modern, science-based approaches to banana production and support the country’s broader goals of agricultural competitiveness and food security.
Congratulations to the dedicated authors and researchers behind Saging sa Botelya for their hard work, expertise, and passion in bringing this valuable resource to life. Your contribution marks another meaningful step toward strengthening the agricultural sector and empowering Filipino farmers through science and innovation.
