Today’s commemoration of Dr. Jose Rizal’s martyrdom is a timely reminder of the call for an educated citizenry capable of steering the nation toward genuine progress.

In observance of this 129th anniversary, the University reflects on the adage that “the pen is mightier than the sword.” While Dr. Rizal’s execution at Bagumbayan was intended by the Spanish government to silence a dissenter, it only served to amplify his message. Contemporarily, that message remains the heartbeat of our institution: that an enlightened mind is the strongest foundation for a free and resilient nation.

May the ideals of our national hero continue to inspire the University community to pursue excellence and contribute to rebuilding a nation that embodies transparency, upholds accountability, and nurtures a deep sense of civic duty.
