Quirino State University (QSU) proudly celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of Ms. Francisca N. Sabado, a Master’s degree program student and exemplary recipient of the university’s flagship internationalization program, Project SHINE. Through her active participation in various internationalization (IZN) programs, Ms. Sabado has demonstrated remarkable talent and dedication in storybook writing while fostering cultural and academic exchanges.

QSU’s Project SHINE gained regional recognition in 2023 as the recipient of the CHED Regional Most Responsive HEI in IZN and ASEAN Initiatives Award, reflecting the university’s commitment to empowering students and faculty through meaningful international collaborations. The IZN programs Ms. Sabado attended include cultural exchanges, lecture series on research methodologies, and platforms for research presentations, all of which enriched her creative and academic pursuits. Through these opportunities, Ms. Sabado has grown into a talented storyteller with a passion for sharing Filipino culture.

Ms. Sabado recently achieved 4th place in the Gawad Teodora Alonzo 2023 at the Philippine National Competition on Storybook Writing in Davao City. Her story, Kuwento ng Bayan Ko: Si Dulnuan at ang Bolang Apoy na Tayyaban, also earned 4th place in the 5th National Competition on Storybook Writing, held on November 22, 2023. Her works masterfully weave Filipino folklore and traditions, underscoring the importance of preserving cultural heritage through literature. Cementing her reputation as a literary talent, Ms. Sabado has been announced as 3rd place in the 6th National Competition on Storybook Writing, in Palawan, Philippines, on December 5, 2024.

QSU International Relations Officer Dr. Romiro G. Bautista highlighted Ms. Sabado’s success as a testament to the transformative power of Project SHINE, stating, “Her participation in cultural exchanges and research-focused IZN programs reflects the university’s commitment to fostering global competence while nurturing cultural pride.” Dean of the Graduate School and University Director for Instruction, Dr. Rosalyn L. Delizo, added, “Her achievements inspire us to continue advancing international and local opportunities for our academic community.”

Ms. Sabado expressed her deep gratitude to QSU, sharing, “The cultural exchanges and research programs I joined broadened my perspective and honed my skills in storytelling and research. These experiences gave me the confidence and creativity to excel on national platforms.” Ms. Sabado’s achievements bring pride to QSU and serve as an inspiration for others to embrace opportunities for learning and growth through internationalization.
