University key officials participated in ACHIEVE Day – a tribute event for former 7th President of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, who is now a CHED Commissioner and Chair-Designate of the QSU Board of Regents (BOR).

Held yesterday, January 21, 2025 at Teatro Ilocandia, Batac, Ilocos Norte, the occasion honored the legacy and accomplishments of Commr. Agrupis as MMSU President. In her address, she showcased her numerous accomplishments under her seven-point agenda known as ACHIEVE, which refers to Academic Excellence, Creative, Relevant and Innovative Research Programs, High Impact and Transformative Extension and Outreach Programs, Improved Revenue Generation and Resource Management, Expanded External Linkages and Partnerships, Vibrant and Engaging, Culturally-Focused University Campus, and Effective and Efficient Management. She further expressed deep gratitude to the MMSU family, stakeholders, and local and national leaders for their strong support throughout her leadership, concluding with the message, “Thank you for flying with me.”

Led by Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr. , President and Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig, Vice President for Academic Research and Extension, the University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) joining 21 other state universities and colleges (SUCs) to the ACHIEVE Consortium. The consortium aims to advance academic excellence, research, and development in higher education in the country.

The QSU delegation who attended the event included campus administrators, directors, program chairpersons, unit heads, the International Relations Officer, and some staff.

This event marked not only a celebration of Commr. Agrupis’ remarkable leadership at MMSU but also a significant step forward for QSU. By joining the ACHIEVE Consortium, the University continues to take proactive steps to becoming a global university championing life-long learning, innovation, and sustainable development.
