The University’s Diffun Campus came alive with intense energy today, January 21, 2026 marking the official opening of the Intramurals Meet and Culture and Arts Festival for the Academic Year 2025-2026.

The festivities commenced with a vibrant parade and street dance performances, culminating in a formal opening program at the University grounds. During the ceremony, Mr. Jaimark P. Villamayor, University Director for Sports and Wellness, welcomed the participants and announced that all QSU campuses are celebrating the event simultaneously. He encouraged the student-athletes by saying that there are no losers in these games, as everyone who joins is already a champion.

The atmosphere grew even more festive with the presentation of the Mr. and Ms. Campus Star 2026 candidates, a segment led by Dr. Mariel May S. Kidkid. Following this, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, delivered a message focused on the theme, “One Beat, One Flame: Igniting Passion, Uniting Champions.” President Samoy, Jr. emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and cultural identity. He reminded the audience that athletes and artists alike serve as symbols of grit and hope, and that true champions are defined by integrity and resilience rather than accolades alone.

Extending his message, President Samoy, Jr., expressed his gratitude to the organizers and coaches for their dedication to the program. He officially declared the celebration open, encouraging students to thrive in academics, athletics, and the arts, while promoting the idea that together, they are stronger.

The program continued with the Torch Relay by Mr. James Bond Gacusan, National SCUAA Gold Medalist. This was followed by the Lighting of the Friendship Flame by Dr. Rosalyn L. Delizo, University Director for Instruction, and Dr. Jenalyn M. Sarmiento, University Director for Student Affairs and Services.

Cheers echoed in the game field as the unit managers introduced the six institutional teams competing, followed by the hoisting of banners. Mr. Jefrey Donato, National SCUAA Athlete, and Dr. Nelson Guray, General Referee, led the oath of sportsmanship and officiating coaches.
With the festival now officially open, the campus prepares for three days of intense competition and artistic showcase.
