Faculty members from the University showcased their extension projects at the 2025 National Extension Conference, held on October 8โ9, 2025 at Cavite State University. Dr. Arlyn J. Yra, Program Chairperson of the BS Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND), received the prestigious Best Presenter Award at the event.
Dr. Yra earned the recognition for the paper, โMONITORING MADE EASY: Optimizing Compliance with Nutrition Laws through User-Friendly Monitoring Tools,โ co-authored by Ms. Maryrose C. Liwag and Dr. Denson M. Liday. The presentation featured innovative and copyrighted tools that streamline the evaluation and enforcement of key nutrition laws, thus promoting efficiency and accountability in community-based nutrition governance.
Moreover, the University showed strong involvement and featured several other impactful projects. Dr. Yra also presented the โSOY-LUSOG PROJECT: An Integrated Nutrition, Education, and Food Security Intervention to Combat Undernutrition,โ co-authored by Ms. Isabel F. Salvador, Ms. Maryrose C. Liwag, Mr. Gerome B. Taguiam, and Ms. Mylene V. Bulong. This initiative highlights a holistic and evidence-based approach to improving nutritional outcomes through education, food production, and community participation, demonstrating institutional initiatives to sustainable health interventions.
Furthermore, Ms. Maryrose C. Liwag, BSND Extension Coordinator, shared their program’s work on โPinalakas na HaNEP: Scaling-Up Nutrition Service Delivery in the Community through Organized and Responsive Trainings,โ a project that strengthens local nutrition service delivery through capacity-building under the flagship program NutriFIED (Nutrition-Focused Intervention towards Empowered and Developed Communities). Dr. Yraโs recognition affirms her expertise and the Universityโs initiatives to innovation, collaboration, and excellence in extension, directly advancing nutritional health and public service.
