The University’s Health Services Unit (HSU) continues its initiative to capacitate the graduating class by hosting a comprehensive First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Training. The event was held in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) on January 26-27, 2026 at the Diffun Campus Gymnasium.
The two-day training opened with a welcome address from Mr. Jaimark Villamayor, OJT Coordinator and University Director for Sports and Wellness. It featured intensive lectures and demonstrations led by expert personnel from the PDRRMO. To ensure mastery of the skills, students engaged in hands-on learning sessions, culminating in return demonstrations and a comprehensive written examination on the final day.
Spearheaded by HSU led by Ms. Remylien C. Songco, Unit Head, the initiative was facilitated by a specialized team from the PDRRMO. The team was composed of the following personnel: Benjamin V. Viray, Joediaz S. Baltazar, Christian Joshua T. Taguding, Jayrone D. Collado, Jomar R. De Vera, and Romelio T. Yaranon.
More than just a technical requirement, the training served as a foundational prerequisite for professional internship. By equipping future technology leaders with these life-saving competencies, the University ensures they enter the workforce not only as skilled professionals but as capable first responders prepared to safeguard their colleagues and communities during emergencies.
