The Universityโ Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (BSND) program recently earned four recognitions for its excellence in research, innovation, and community extension. The institutionโs research prowess was showcased at the 2025 CVHRDC Annual Health Research Forum held on December 15โ16 at the NGN Gran Hotel in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. During this event, two faculty members earned top honors in the Professional Category for their contributions to health science.
Ms. Nobelyn V. Agapito led the achievements by being awarded Best Presenter (1st Place) in the Oral Research Presentation category. Her study, titled โNutritional Value, Functional Components, Microbiological Quality, and Acceptability of Purple Yam and Soybean Flour Blends as Instant Complementary Food,โ was lauded for its innovative strides in food science and its potential to provide safe, functional, and highly acceptable nutrition for children. Adding to the programโs success, Dr. Denson M. Liday earned the Best Presenter (2nd Place) award in the Digital Poster Presentation category. His research on โBREEZE,โ a synergistic aromatherapy formulation using bamboo, citrus claret, lemongrass, and coffee, was recognized for its scientific rigor and creativity in crafting natural wellness solutions.
Beyond the laboratory, the programโs commitment to public service was honored on December 12, 2025, during the “Bayanihan sa Kalusugan: The First Diffun Community Volunteer Workers Summit.” The BSND Extension Services received a Certificate of Commendation for its sustained and impactful work in the Municipality of Diffun. Through the NutriFIED C Program and a strong partnership with the Local Government Unit, the institution has implemented community-responsive interventions ranging from maternal and infant nutrition support to food safety promotion and local nutrition governance.
Rounding out the four major accolades, Dr. Arlyn J. Yra, Program Chairperson, was recognized with a Certificate of Commendation for her exceptional contributions to health and wellness in the district. Her leadership was instrumental in formulating the Municipal Wellness Policy and developing the official campaign jingle, โTamang Nutrisyon, Tamang Galaw,โ which has become a cornerstone of the regionโs advocacy for active living. These stellar accomplishments reflect the BSND programโs initiatives to research and community engagement, inspiring the community to pursue knowledge that makes a tangible difference as they continue to ARISE.
