Quirino State University (QSU) was awarded as PhilGAP Certified by the Department of Agriculture—Bureau of Plant Industry (DA-BPI), the first state university to receive such a prestigious award in the region. This certification acknowledges QSU’s adherence to sustainable and responsible farming practices as outlined in the DA Administrative Circular 01, series 2018, encompassing all relevant national laws, rules, and regulations.

The award was presented by Ms. Remedios Dela Rosa, Division Chief Regulatory Division; Ms. Editha Cortina, Senior Agriculturist; Mr. Ernesto Reyes, Agricultural Technician; and Mr. Jerry Ballad, CAO Officer IV.

Under the leadership of Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President and Dr. Mila T. The evaluation highlighted excellence in soil management and irrigation, worker health, safety, and welfare, record-keeping and internal inspection, and environmental conservation. This accomplishment underscores the effectiveness of QSU’s Auxiliary and Enterprise Development (AED) Department in implementing good agricultural practices.

Present during the awarding were: Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Minajoy B. Wigan, CAFÉ Faculty; AED personnel; and farm workers.
