Quirino State University was conferred with a commendation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during the Internationalization Champions of Nation-building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025, held today, December 10, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.

Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, accepted the commendation and an accompanying plaque on behalf of the institution. The award hails the University as an exemplary champion for the future of Philippine higher education, lauding its dedication to internationalization and sustainability. QSU reinforced this standing by placing 342nd in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025.

The recognition by CHED’s annual ICONS Awards celebrates Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for their role in championing the Philippine higher education sector on the international stage. The ICONS ceremony is a vital avenue for acknowledging the high-impact initiatives of Philippine HEIs toward sustainability, ASEAN awareness, and internationalization.
