Key officials from the University recently attended the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Consultative Meeting with State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for North Luzon Cluster. The event was held on August 20 at Hotel Elizabeth in Baguio City.
Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President; Atty. Ronalyn L. Barawid, Head of Legal Unit; and Mr. Rohito P. Roga, Accountant III, represented the institution. They joined delegates from various SUCs and private HEIs across Northern Luzon at the event, which seeks to strengthen the implementation of DOST-GIA programs.
The meeting featured a keynote speech and a presentation on the processes and timelines for Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing by Dr. Leah J. Buendia, DOST Undersecretary for Research & Development (R&D). Discussions also covered the liquidation of grants for completed and ongoing projects, reportorial requirements, and the booking and transfer procedures for equipment procured through the DOST-GIA Program.
The consultative meeting allowed the institutions to address key administrative and procedural concerns to ensure that research and development projects are implemented efficiently, paving the way for more impactful and innovative contributions to the region’s progress.
