The University held a virtual Stakeholdersโ Forum yesterday, June 17 to enhance its Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP 2025-2029), engaging students, local officials, personnel, and community partners in shaping the institutionโs strategic vision. Conducted via Zoom, the event emphasized inclusivity and collaboration as cornerstones of the universityโs roadmap for transformative growth.
In his message, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, explained the importance of stakeholder engagement, stating, โMore than crafting a plan or presenting timelines, this process is about building a shared future. We invite you to walk with us, build with us, and contribute with us for the communities we serve.โ The FYDP, he explained, reflects months of consultations and outlines shared aspirations and strategic directions focusing on transformative education, inclusive growth, research, extension services, and institutional services.
Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig, Vice President for Academics, Research, and Extension, presented the Land Use and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP), detailing proposed campus expansions and facility upgrades to support the various goals of the University. Dr. Ysmael R. Draman, Head of the Planning Unit, followed with an overview of the FYDP draft, which integrates feedback from prior consultations.
Following the main presentations, an open forum was held, which was facilitated by the Planning Unit. Ms. Luzminda D. Magpayo, representing Diffun Mayor Hon. May G. Calaunan, commended the LUDIPโs alignment with local development goals and affirmed the municipal governmentโs support to its implementation. Further, Hon. John Denver Laguitao, the Student Regent, conveyed his appreciation and enthusiasm regarding the proposed new facilities. These facilities, as outlined in the LUDIP, are deemed particularly beneficial for students.
Closing the event, Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen, Vice President for Administration and Finance, thanked the participants for their valuable insights, emphasizing that the FYDPโs success hinges on sustained collaboration.
