Three QSU Campuses unite today, February 12, 2025, for the conduct of the University Meet 2025.

Commencing with an opening program, this celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and creativity was held at the University Gymnasium in Diffun Campus. Mr. Jaimark P. Villamayor, University Director for Sports and Wellness Program, provided an overview of the event and previewed QSU’s Health and Wellness Program. He announced that the best athletes will be chosen to represent the University to the upcoming CAVRASUC.

In her welcome address, Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig, Vice President for Academic Research and Extension, acknowledged the key officials, students, and personnel who came together to celebrate QSU’s shared identity. She extended her appreciation to the efforts of every athlete and participant as each one contributes to the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the University. Dr. Carig also thanked the coaches, faculty, and organizers, and highlighted the importance of rising together and forging lasting friendships.

The cheerleading competition energized the crowd, followed by the introduction of the candidates for Mr. and Ms. QSU 2025.

In his address, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, described QSU as more than just a name, but a “cradle of wisdom, hope, and truth.” Anchoring on this year’s theme, “One Spirit, One Goal: QSU Rising Together,” he encouraged everyone to promote peace and reaffirm unity, integrity, and perseverance. “Embrace challenges,” he urged. “Together, we are unstoppable in achieving our goals.” Dr. Samoy declared the University Meet officially open.

The Sports and Wellness and Socio-Cultural Coordinators introduced the athletes and competitors from the three campuses. Mr. James Bond Gacusan, national multi-medalist of aquatic events, led the oath-taking of the athletes.

Before the Opening Program concluded, the winners for the cheerleading competition and Mr. & Ms. QSU 2025 were announced. The fun and thrill will continue until February 14, 2025 as the sports and socio-cultural events resume for three days. I QIO
