The University, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 2- Quirino Provincial Office, conducted a Training and Workshop on Data Privacy Protection today, December 6 at the Learning Resource Center of Diffun Campus.
The event, co-organized by the BS Information Technology (BSIT) Department, Information Technology Office (ITO), and the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), focused on equipping key university officials from Cabarroguis, Diffun, and Maddela Campuses with a comprehensive understanding of Republic Act 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012. The training aimed to empower participants to make informed decisions and take appropriate actions regarding data privacy protection and personal information security.
Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen, Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered an opening remarks that emphasized the critical importance of data privacy to QSU. Ms. Rowena Y. Pimentel, Unit Head of HRMO, further elaborated on the training’s rationale. The workshop was expertly facilitated by Mr. Edison Agaoid and Mr. Jonathan del Rosario, while Ms. Kimberly Ramones, Compliance Officer for Privacy and Data Protection Management Supervisor, provided practical guidance and insights into the complexities of data privacy regulations.
The conduct of the training is QSU’s proactive approach to ensure compliance on data privacy requirements. It also fosters a culture of trust and transparency within the university community.
