The University held the โ€œGender and Development Plan and Budget (GAD PB) cum Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) Workshopโ€ today, September 15, at the Learning Resource Center (LRC), JAA Building, Diffun Campus.

Participated by the key officials, faculty, and staff from various departments of the three campuses, the workshop sought to strengthen institutional capacity in integrating gender perspectives into programs, projects, and activities. The event also capacitated the attendees in utilizing the HGDG tool to ensure gender responsiveness in project development and implementation.

During the preliminary program, Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen, Vice President for Administration and Finance, extended a warm welcome to all participants. She explained the importance of learning to use a framework that integrates gender perspectives, addresses gender gaps, and promote equal participation of women and men in all aspects of development- from project design, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation.

Expressing his support to GAD initiatives, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, said, โ€œGender responsiveness is a legacy that we build. It is a story that we write for the future. . . Let this meeting be a space for collaboration.โ€

The workshop proceeded with comprehensive lectures and activities led by Dr. Emma D. Aspiras, GAD University Director. Dr. Cynthia Grace T. Valdez, GAD Coordinator of Diffun Campus and Ms. Goldy Grace P. Estrada, GAD Coordinator of Maddela Campus co-facilitated the event.

The University continues to conduct initiatives such as this training to institutionalize gender mainstreaming within the academe, thereby promoting inclusivity and accountability.
