On August 9, 2024, university leaders and key personnel from the administrative and academic departments of QSU campuses participated in another workshop titled “SUC Levelling & COP Compliance Planning Workshop,” at the Conference Room, College of Health and Sciences (CHS), Diffun Campus.
Organized by Dr. Ysmael R. Draman and his team from the Planning Office, the workshop was carried out to elevate the status of QSU to match that of the top State Universities and Colleges (SUC) in the country and other neighboring ASEAN nations. Strategies were charted to ensure all program offerings are aligned with the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) as mandated by the CHED on higher education.
During the forum, Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig (VP-ARE) provided a detailed overview of the leveling instruments and COPC requirements, discussing the criteria, metrics, and evaluation process. Moreover, Dr. Florigold V. Saldaen (VP-A&F) discussed the supporting roles of the administrative units in achieving higher levels of accreditation and recognition for the University. Dr. Cherry P. Collado (CAO- Finance) elaborated on the budgetary requirements and utilization process for related projects that need funding.
The participants engaged in the crafting plans and strategies for allocating resources including budget, personnel, and infrastructure.
Further, the university officials jointly agreed to optimize the faculty teaching load by trimming the faculty designations and revising the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for faculty members with specific designations.
The workshop culminated with participants presenting their proposed plans and strategies. These outputs will serve as a roadmap for QSU’s journey towards achieving a higher SUC level and full COP compliance.| QIO with President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr.
