QSU-supported organization, the Quirino Young Entrepreneurs Association (QYEA), was recently recognized with the Product Innovation Award for its JaBes Ube Powder.

Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., QSU President and Dr. Mila T. Benabise, University Director for Auxiliary and Enterprise Development (AED) Department and QYEA Adviser, received the recognition during the STANDOUT Awards 2024, held for the SGS 75th Anniversary event on October 17, 2024 at Dusit Thani Manila Hotel, Makati City. The recognition was bestowed by SGS Philippines, a world-leading testing and certification company.

The development of the Ube Powder was a collaborative effort between QYEA and the University with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office 02 and DTI Quirino. The Provincial Government of Quirino and the Department of Agriculture also take an important role in boosting the province’s ube industry.
