Faculty members and research staff from the three QSU campuses convened today, July 22, for the Turnitin Instructors Workflow Training. The activity focused on utilizing Turnitin Feedback Studio with Originality, a software designed to assist instructors and research staff in upholding high academic standards.
Held at the Learning Resource Center of the Diffun Campus, the training provided participants with practical experience in using the tool’s various functionalities. These included checking research papers for similarities, identifying AI-generated content, and delivering constructive feedback to students.
Dr. Lauro S. Aspiras, University Research and Development (R&D) Director, commenced the session by extending a warm welcome to the participants, emphasizing the prudent use of AI tools in academic outputs. Dr. Dyanika P. Nolasco, Campus R&D Director of Diffun, then introduced the trainers and attendees.
The training was led by Mr. Marko Socco, Solutions Engineer at Turnitin Philippines, who delivered a lecture and facilitated the hands-on activities with Mr. Bryan Pagsibigan, Territory Sales Manager of the same company. Participants learned to navigate the software’s features, empowering them in guiding students toward creating original and properly cited academic outputs to ensure that scholarly works meet rigorous ethical benchmarks.
This initiative is seen to provide the Universityโs educators and staff with a vital resource for fostering a culture of authenticity, ensuring students produce academic work that reflects their own efforts and adheres to the highest scholarly standards.
