The University, led by President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., joined the 75th Araw ng Diffun and Pammadayaw Festival today, July 4, 2025. Demonstrating their active support for the community, Diffun Campus personnel participated in the grand parade, accompanied by the Cabarroguis Campus Drum and Lyre Corps, as it moved from the new municipal building to the Jose Vaquilar Gymnasium. The parade showcased street dance performances from various local schools.
A highlight of the festival was the booth competition, which declared QSU as the Best Dressed Booth Champion. The booth featured various fruits, vegetables, food innovations, and technologies developed at the University. This winning booth was a result of collaboration by various departments: Auxiliary and Enterprise Development (AED) headed by Dr. Mila Benabise; Extension Services and Community Engagement (ESCE) led by Dr. Fredisminda M. Dolojan; College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Engineering (CAFE) under the leadership of Dr. Edgar Benabise; College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) led by Dr. Jonathan N. Tariga; and Dr. Divina Gracia S. Sabio, OIC -Campus Administrator of Diffun.
Beyond the festive competitions, the College of Health Sciences (CHS) chaired by Dr. Arlyn J. Yra, also helped launch the 2025 Nutrition Month and established a Nutribooth with the Diffun Local Government Unit (LGU), headed by Hon. Mayor May Garnace Calaun. Further, Ms. Mary Rose Liwag, CHS Extension Coordinator, conducted nutrition counseling, nutrition information campaign, and other related activities among diverse age groups, held from July 1-4, 2025.
The University’s participation extended to the Bingo Bonanza and other festival activities, further demonstrating QSU’s strong ties with the Diffun community.
