The University recently held the second hands-on training on Free-Range Chicken (FRC) Production and Management on July 12 at the Agriculture Department’s Audio-Visual Room.

Along with the FRC team of the Agriculture Department, the Extension Services and Community Engagement (ESCE) Department, capacitated 31 participants composed of local farmers, homemakers, and personnel from the Agriculture Office of the PLGU, on raising chickens using sustainable methods.

The program covered essential aspects of FRC farming, including housing and environment management, nutrition and feeding practices, health and disease management, and record-keeping.

Previously, 17 participants from the first batch of training have benefited from the same training on June 28.

By providing farmers and poultry enthusiasts with practical skills and knowledge, the university aims to promote sustainable farming practices that can lead to increased productivity and economic benefits for the local community.

Looking ahead, QSU has scheduled another training session tomorrow, July 19, focusing on egg selection, grading, incubation, and brooding management. This upcoming training will dig into the critical stages of egg handling, from selection and grading to incubation, ensuring participants are well-versed in poultry management.
