The University recently hosted an academic bridging activity on August 15-16, 2024, accommodating delegates from the Batangas State University (BatSU)- The National Engineering University.

University President Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr. welcomed the delegates at his office during the first day of the academic visit. Subsequently, a short program was conducted to acquaint the host university and the visiting personnel with Dr. Elizabeth T. Carig (VP for Academics, Research, & Extension) who presented the QSU key officials and the rationale of the activity.

Led by Dr. Anna Maria V. Rivera (Dean of College of Arts and Sciences), BatSU’s delegation included key officials, faculty, and staff from their Pablo Borbon Campus. The visitors were presented with QSU’s best practices in instruction, research, extension, and internationalization, concluding with a message from Dr. Florigold Saldaen (Vice President for Administration and Finance).

On the second day, the BatSU delegates proceeded on a campus tour of QSU’s Diffun Campus to explore various development projects. They visited the banana laboratory, where they learned about tissue-culture technology, and the mushroom cultivation facility with the assistance of Ms. Elizabeth Oppuer. Following this, Dr. Elizabeth Carig guided them through Bambusari Park, showcasing its diverse bamboo and coffee species. Additionally, they observed free-range chicken breeding at QSU’s poultry farm and roamed around the Crop Production Laboratory with Dr. Rommel G. Peralta and Dr. Mila T. Benabise, where they saw products innovated by Quirino Young Entrepreneurs Association (QYEA), an organization supported by the university.

The BatSU delegation, accompanied by the QSU Information Office, also visited the Cabarroguis Campus, where they were greeted by Dr. Baltazar Damance (Campus Administrator), Dr. Magdalena Guinumtad, (Campus Director for Instruction), and Dr. Lauro Aspiras (University Research Director). At Cabarroguis, they were presented with the campus’ program offerings and best practices in instruction. The final stop of the tour was the Maddela Campus, where the delegates had a chance to view the campus’ facilities.

Through a message sent to Dr. Ruby Lyn Gutierrez (PCSMT Coordinator) upon completion of the activity, the BatSU delegation expressed their delight and gratitude for QSU’s warm hospitality and the valuable learning experiences gained during their visit. I QIO
